Knitting and Crochet Monday 6 weeks £89 11th September 2017

These 6 weekly sessions is for beginners and intermediate knitters and crochetiers. There is an opportunity to work on your own projects are learn new techniques and make samples to create a notebook of skills. We can offer Tunisian Crochet, Broomstick crochet, knitting in the round, Fairisle and Aran as well as the more conventional forms of knitting and crochet. Please bring your own yarns, needles and crochet hooks to work on your preferred project. Light refreshments included.

Introduction to Soft Furnishings 6 week course £160 Monday 11th September 2017

Introduction and Intermediate Soft FurnishingsOn this 6 week course (Monday evenings 6.15pm to 9.15pm) you will make a sample lined curtain, a sample Roman blind and a piped cushion.  You will also learn how to correctly measure your windows, calculate fabric quantities and work out pattern placement and repeats.

Develop your making skills and confidence in a small group in our well-equipped studios.

All materials and light refreshments are included and you will be given a set of notes for you to use at home for your own projects.

Introduction to your sewing machineGet to know your own sewing machine step by step from threading up your machine and a bobbin to using some of the interchangeable feet.  Find out things you didn’t know your machine could do!

You will learn what your machine can do for you by making a tote bag with a zipped pocket.  You will make a decorative panel to sew onto your bag and using French seams, so you will have a beautifully neat finish inside your bag.

Liz Reed is coming back to Derbyshire with her Wee Driftwood Characters. She will be running two one-day workshops to show you how to make your own driftwood character. Learn Liz’s beachcombing secrets, how to support British wool producers, and knit your character.

All you need is to be able to cast on and off and have some basic knitting skills. During the day you will choose a driftwood body, knit a sweater and if there is time knit and sew a woolly hat. Under Liz’s guidance, watch your wee character take on their own personality.

Liz will chat with you about your knitting skills and you can enjoy a lovely day with fellow knitters and makers in a relaxed, friendly and inspiring environment.
